Learn to Move
with Scotia Equitation
Learn to Move is an exercise program designed with the rider in mind. If you want to cross train your body for the sport but do not love a traditional gym workout this is the program for you. Great as a complimentary program to riders in a lesson program.
When you Learn to Move you will learn
- to use your body
- about rider biomechanics
- the 4 pillars of exercise
- at home movement to support your riding
Learn to Move is a program run in 4 week lesson blocks. Participants will explore 4 different types of movement over the 4 classes and no two lesson blocks are the same so you can keep coming back for more movement!
Learn to Move requirements:
All participants must have closed toed shoes and athletic clothing. no helmets required.


Learn to Care
with Scotia Equitation
When you Learn to Care you will learn
- about horse care
- how to support heath and welfare of horses
- the foundations for handling and conditioning horses
- stable management techniques
Learn to Care is a program run in 4 week lesson blocks. Participants will explore topics related to their experience level and goals over the 4 classes. There will be an annual testing opportunity for those looking to get certificates and move forward through the EC model.
Learn to Care requirements:
All participants must have closed toed shoes. no helmets required. gloves and rubber boots are recommened.
Learn to Care is an unmounted program designed with the care and welfare of our equine partners in mind. If you want to combine your love of horses with your passion for riding this is the program for you. Great as a complimentary program to riders in a lesson program. Learn to Ride
with Scotia Equitation
Learn to Ride is a mounted program designed with balance, safety and a solid foundation at the forefront. If you want to learn all aspects of sitting in the saddle this is the program for you. Great as a complimentary program to our Learn to Care program. [following the EC "Learn To" program model]
When you Learn to Ride you will learn
- to prepare a horse for riding
- to care for a horse following a ride
- steering and handling techniques
- english horsemanship
Learn to Ride is a program run in 4 week lesson blocks. Participants will expand on their riding skills in English tack following a curriculum from brand new to the saddle all the way through basic jumping. Learning about topics relevant to their experience level and goals over the 4 classes.. Each lesson is 45 minutes with a maximum of 3 per group. There will be an annual testing opportunity for those looking to get certificates and move forward through the EC model.

Learn to Ride requirements:
All Riders must have:

Rising Riders
at Scotia Equitation
Rising Riders is a program designed with of littlest equestrians in mind. If you want to introduce your little one to the joy of horses early this is the program for you.
Rising Riders is open to participants ages 5-8 years old.
Rising Riders is run in two separate sessions completely independent from each other.
The first option is group stable management lessons. Each lesson is 45 minutes and run in 4 week lesson blocks with a maximum of 4 per group.
The second option is private mounted riding lessons. Each lesson is 20 minutes and run in 4 week lesson blocks.
Participants in the stable management lessons will explore topics related to horse care, anatomy, behaviour and tack over the 4 lessons. These lessons focus on games, team work, safety and hands on learning.
Participants in the riding lessons will get to learn how to mount, steer and balance on a horse in engaging, fun and specially individualized lessons.
We recommend doing both the riding and stable management lessons to get the most out of our Rising Riders program.

Home School Program
at Scotia Equitation
The homeschool program is an unmounted program designed with the hands on nature of home school in mind. This program provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the daily routine of a working farm.
When you join us for the Home School Program you will learn
- the morning care routine
- the basics of wound care and vetting
- basic horse handling and interacting techniques
- daily farm operation and tasks
The home school program is run in 6 week lesson blocks. Participants will gain hands on and rewarding farm experience. These lessons are run at a reduced rate and offered at a week day time with the homeschooler's schedule in mind.

Homeschool program requirements:
All participants must have closed toed shoes. no helmets required. gloves and rubber boots are recommened.
Train the Trainer
at Scotia Equitation
Train the Trainer is a unique program where you can learn about
- training techniques
- training adaptations
- training equipment and its uses​
Train the Trainer is run as singular specialty lessons . Participants can sign up for topics and dates that are of interest to them in a clinic style setting.
The method of delivery for Train the Trainer varies between audited lessons, lecture style lessons, mounted lessons and ground handling lessons. Lessons may be provided using program horses or the option to haul in may be available for specific topics.

Train the Trainer is a program designed with horse owners and lovers alike in mind. If you want to expand your skill set to include training techniques beyond the saddle this is the program for you.
